In the Russian capital, heavy snowfall led to the fact that snowdrifts grew from 38 to 45 cm in a day, Interfax reports, citing the Moscow weather bureau.

This is still the maximum for this winter in the capital (the data was received at 9:00 Moscow time from the main weather station of the city at VDNKh).

Moreover, forecasters point out that the height of snow cover in Moscow is 80% higher than the climatic norm for January (25 cm).

Earlier, REN TV notes, the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia predicted that today Muscovites would expect cloudy weather with light snow and sleet. The air temperature will be about minus 4 degrees. And on Sunday night it will drop to minus 8 degrees.

Meanwhile, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand warned in an interview with RIA Novosti that a sharp increase in atmospheric pressure is expected in Moscow and the Moscow region by Sunday, it will increase by 20-25 millimeters of mercury.

Meanwhile, heavy snowfalls are also observed in other regions of the country. Thus, in Krasnodar, the amount of precipitation that fell in the first two decades of January exceeded the norm by 35%, TASS emphasizes.

Moreover, the snowfall stopped the work of the airport in Krasnodar, the changes in the schedule affected more than 20 flights, Interfax adds.
