In St. Petersburg, a fire broke out at the Staraya Derevnya metro station. The station was closed. The fire is already out.

Yulia, a Petersburger who witnessed the fire, told Gazeta.Ru that the fire started on the second floor of the station. According to the woman, on the first floor behind the closed doors of the lobby there were personnel. Julia called the spectacle “creepy.”

She said that when she approached the subway, about two dozen people were standing near the lobby in front of the closed doors, there was still no smoke and fire to be seen. But almost immediately she smelled burning and moved a little further. Then she noticed that smoke was coming from the window of the second floor, and soon the glow of the fire became visible. After a couple of minutes, “glasses just burst and the fire burst out.”

Firefighters have already arrived: at least 20 crews, and then ambulances. “It feels like half the city of emergency services has come here with sirens,” she said. According to Yulia, the pillar of fire was quite high. “A terrible sight. I hope no one was hurt,” the witness said.

She added that she was surprised in this situation: on the ground floor, behind the closed doors of the lobby, there were station personnel.
