Marlon Cadena is appointed as the new head of the Democratic Left caucus

Ensures that there will be an evaluation of the political agreements that the ID maintains with other legislative benches

The Democratic Left bloc appointed assemblyman Marlon Cadena Carrera as the new coordinator of the bench for a period of one year, replacing legislator Alejandro Jaramillo Gómez.

The appointment was made after Jaramillo submitted his resignation to the leadership of the bench on January 18, in whose letter he stated that everything promised has been fulfilled and now it is up to each of the legislators that make up the bloc to sustain, shine and work for better days for all.

Alejandro Jaramillo resigns from the leadership of the Democratic Left caucus

Assemblyman Dalton Bacigalupo moved the name of Marlon Cadena, who received eleven votes from fifteen legislators that make up the bench, two abstained and two did not record their vote. The appointee belongs to the Democratic Left since the refoundation of the Democratic Left, he was the first national director of the party’s Political Training Institute, and represents Pichincha for the parishes.

Radicalizing the dialogue with all political sectors inside and outside the National Assembly in the search for consensus will be one of Cadena’s priorities, who pointed out that there will be an evaluation of the bloc’s political agreements with other political shops such as Pachakutik.

One of the issues on which the Democratic Left will have to define its position with the new caucus chief will be regarding the bill that guarantees the voluntary interruption of pregnancy for girls, adolescents and women in the event of rape, where legislators Alejandro Jaramillo and Johanna Moreira, maintained a different position from their co-ideator Dalton Bacigalupo, while the content of the project was discussed in the Justice Commission to which they belong.

There will be previous meetings with the ID legislators, before the Justice Commission, to know the scope of the approved report on the interruption of pregnancy in case of rape, and then there will be a meeting as a caucus. (I)
