Putin urged the government to “not forget” about military pensioners and index their pensions

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to index military pensions by 8.6%, as before for civilian pensioners, from January 1 this year.

At a meeting of the Security Council, he recalled the decision “with regard to civilian pensioners: from January 1 (pensions) should increase by 8.6 percent, that is, higher than inflation over the past year.”

“We should not forget about military pensioners. I consider it necessary to apply the same approach to military pensioners and persons equivalent to them. I mean the retired employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian Guard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Investigative Committee and other structures. In general, this is about two million 600 thousand people, ”Putin emphasized, whose words are quoted on the Kremlin website.

Recall also, on the eve of the State Duma adopted a law on additional indexation of pensions of non-working pensioners at a level higher than the official inflation.

The law was adopted in connection with the President’s order to index pensions in 2022 by 8.6%. Official inflation in 2021 is estimated at 8.4%. As a result of additional indexation, pensions will increase by an average of 1.4 thousand rubles. and will amount to 18, 984 thousand rubles.
