Guillermo Lasso reactivates the Nutritional Support Voucher with the support of the World Food Program

President William Lasso reactivated the Nutritional Support Bonus which consists of the delivery of $ 240 once, on an emergency and exceptional basis, for family nuclei in which there are pregnant women and children up to 36 months of age in a situation of poverty, extreme poverty and vulnerability and who are users of the Comprehensive Child Development services of the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES) in Esmeraldas, Carchi and Pichincha.

This Bonus was implemented for the first time in 2020 by the former president Lenin Moreno and the current government is now launching the second phase.

At Executive Decree 330, signed this Thursday, January 20, Lasso explains that the monetary transfer will be made due to the prevalence of high percentages of chronic child malnutrition (CIM), which is aggravated by the consequences left by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new bonus that the Government will deliver in order to reduce child malnutrition will be a card with a chip to control that it is used in the purchase of food

In the case of the Child Development Centers (CDI), food assistance to boys and girls who are in virtual or blended assistance was suspended and this is one of the reasons for the issuance of the voucher in question. The resources must be allocated to the acquisition of food and beverages from the basic family basket for a healthy diet.

The bonus will have the financial support of the World Food Program (WFP), that signed a letter of understanding with the MIES, which establishes the preparation of the database, identification of the family nuclei and the selection mechanisms and criteria. The MIES will determine the requirements and procedures for delivery.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance will allocate the funds to MIES, coming from the PMA. (I)
