How to validate the medical certificate at the IESS

Policyholders have two options for validation.

Those insured by the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) who need validate your private medical certificates you have two alternatives to do it. Now with the COVID-19 pandemic this request has become massive.

The first option is via online on the website of the institution iess.gob.ec, provided that the rest is one to three days; while for medical permits from four or more days, the procedure must be carried out in person at the IESS medical units.

Validation online

  • Go to iess.gob.ec
  • Choose the option Virtual Procedures
  • click on Insured > affiliates
  • Choose Validation of Medical Certificates
  • Enter your ID number and password
  • Enter Monetary Subsidy > Certificate Registration
  • Enter the start date of Medical rest
  • Certificate Type
  • Enter the information of the certificate generated by the doctor of external units
  • Attach the medical certificate in PDF form
  • Select the medical center for validation and click Keep

When saving the request, the system will generate an email addressed to the doctor who issued the certificate, the employer and the employee to report the registration of the information.

Face-to-face validation

You must go to the medical units of the IESS, with the certificate issued by a doctor, along with the results of the tests. It is not necessary for the insured to be present, the documentation can be entered by a family member, up to eight days after the completion of the rest.

Steps to download the medical rest validation certificate

  • Go to iess.gob.ec
  • Choose the option Virtual Procedures
  • click on Insured > affiliates
  • click on Monetary Subsidies
  • Enter your ID number and password
  • Select Monetary Subsidy > Consultation of Medical Certificate
  • Download the certificate in PDF format

The downloaded document may be submitted to the human talent units of public and private institutions in the country. (I)
