Deputy Minister of Transport Vladimir Tokarev was charged with especially large-scale fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Currently, he is in a temporary detention center, according to a release on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As explained in the department, Tokarev is suspected of involvement in the theft of funds from Spetstransstroy LLC.
According to the investigators, from 2016 to 2018, Vladimir Tokarev, then he held the position of First Deputy General Director of SpetsTransStroy LLC, in order to embezzle funds from this organization on an especially large scale, involved a number of persons from among the management of SpetsTransStroy LLC and OOO Glavstroyinvest and other affiliated organizations.
The day before, searches were carried out in the office of Vladimir Tokarev and in his household. Digital media, documentation and other items were seized. Searches also took place in the home of another person involved in the criminal case.
On January 19, the deputy head of the Ministry of Transport of Russia was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation and placed in a temporary detention center.
In the near future, the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow will consider the investigator’s petition for a preventive measure in the form of detention.
