With posters, white balloons, flags and slogans, a group of people expressed their dissatisfaction with the situation faced by the police who are prosecuted for shooting and killing assailants who committed crimes. The citizens gathered from 8:00 p.m. in the Shyris tribune, north of Quito, to show their support for the uniformed men.
The demonstration was called by social networks, through text messages and publications, as a result of the sentence of three years and four months received by the corporal second Santiago Olmedo, for shooting down two assailants on June 11, 2021, in Riobamba. The vehicles that circulated along the avenue of the Shyris honked in support of the protest.

Another case that provoked rejection was that of the Police Marco Parra, which has alternative measures and is being investigated for the crime of homicide, because shot a criminal who wanted to rob a restaurant. “We don’t think things are like that. A policeman is a human being. It doesn’t seem to us that the laws are that way, of being able to prosecute them for something when they were doing their duty,” said David Arias, spokesman for the motorcyclists.
