In Russia, over the past week, against the backdrop of news about the rapid spread of the new Omicron strain, retail sales of rapid tests for the detection of COVID-19 coronavirus infection, as well as masks and sanitizers, have sharply increased. This is reported by the Vedomosti newspaper, which polled large pharmacy chains, online pharmacies and marketplaces.

Moreover, the publication points out, in certain categories, sales increased seven times.

According to the estimates of the federal operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus, the daily increase in infections in the Russian Federation began to increase sharply from January 7 this year, and by January 18, the number of cases per day in the country doubled to 33,899 new cases. This is due, among other things, to the new strain of omicron – only from January 10 to January 14, the number of people infected with it increased by 2.6 times.

Let us also recall that earlier infectious disease specialist Sergey Ryabov, who was located near Moscow, named a simple way to ensure recovery after infection with “omicron”. According to the expert, the water-salt balance is important.
