The founder of the online publication “GORDON” Dmitry Gordon said that today the editorial office of the publication was fired at in Kiev. According to him, the publication’s employees saw a bullet mark on one of the windows of the office and called the police.
Gordon linked the incident with his professional activities. He expressed confidence that the crime would be solved “because there are cameras everywhere.”
“In addition, as my sources in the SBU told me, here opposite is the hostel of the SBU, in which a special post has been set up as part of the NSRD (covert investigative (detective) actions. – ed.) in relation to me, from where everything is completely recorded, what happens here, in front of the entrance (to the editorial office). Therefore, I am absolutely sure that the SBU, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will give an answer to the question of who fired at the windows of the GORDON online publication, who has freedom of speech and the fight for freedom of speech in Ukraine in their throats,” Gordon said.
In turn, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine called on the police to promptly and effectively investigate the shelling of the office of the GORDON publication. The head of the NUJU, Serhiy Tomilenko, indicated on his Facebook that investigators from the Podolsk regional police department and forensic specialists are currently working at the scene.
He added that impunity would exacerbate anxiety, and establishing all the circumstances and punishing those involved in the shelling would make the profession of journalism safer.
Later it became known that the Kiev police opened a criminal case into the attack on Gordon’s editorial office. The report of the National Police indicated that the criminal proceedings had been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional destruction or damage to property.
