The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers unacceptable the statements of the Minister of Economy of Slovakia, which cast doubt on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, told UNIAN about this.

Earlier, Slovak Economy Minister Richard Sulik questioned the need for economic sanctions against Russia. “Countries should trade with each other. And some of our exporters have suffered. For this reason, sanctions only lead to damage, the Russians will not return Crimea anyway. We have to look ahead and build relationships,” Sulik said. In addition, he added, the tension on the border of Ukraine also does not contribute to building relations.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko condemned the statement: “It’s a shame that an official from a friendly state with whom we have a high level of relations demonstrates a distorted perception of reality regarding the ownership of Crimea and understanding of the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.”

According to him, talk about the return of business as usual and normal cooperation with the Russian Federation “promotes impunity and encourages Russia to further aggression.”
