70% of public servants in Quito must take advantage of teleworking

The Ministry of Labor accepted the request of the metropolitan COE.

The Ministry of Labor accepted the request made by the Quito metropolitan Emergency Operations Committee (COE) so that 70% of public officials take advantage of teleworking, due to the increase in positive cases with COVID-19 in the capital. 30% of the employees of State entities will remain with face-to-face work. Institutions that provide services will be exempt from this measure.

The decision was made this Wednesday, January 19, during a meeting of the national COE and the metropolitan COE in which they participated Mayor Santiago Guarderas and the Minister of Labor, Patricio Donoso. Before this new resolution, the public sector in Quito already worked with 50% of the staff in teleworking.

The minister stated that the position proposed for the city is “logical”. “There’s a high percentage of civil servants, especially from the executive function, who work in the capital”, he pointed out. In addition, Donoso noted that a technical report is expected to be received and the Ministry will proceed with the request.

Other warrants issued by the metropolitan COE were also analyzed in the session: request the national COE the release of the third dose for adults over 50 years who have completed three months after the second dose; issuance of a quick control document or circulation passport containing the information on the vaccination schedule, in digital format with a QR code; and evaluation of the face-to-face return to classes.

Regarding the latter, the suggestion is that the current quimester ends virtually.

“We have made another series of warrants that, fundamentally, have to do with capacity and activities that would allow us to control the epidemiological situation within the city,” Guarderas said.

For his part, the president of the national COE, John Zapata, He indicated that he will transfer the warrants for the evaluation of the Ministries of Health and Education. The spokesman added that the body will meet again on Saturday, January 22, at 3:00 p.m.

“This Saturday is extremely important, because of those data that we have from the report of the Ministry of Health, the decision of the plenary will be in different aspectsZapata commented.

The mayor added that, once the national COE makes decisions, the metropolitan COE will meet on January 25 to adopt new resolutions. (I)
