The human rights portal Gulagu.net, whose website was blocked in Russia at the request of Roskomnadzor, published videos of the abuse of prisoners in a colony in the Omsk region.

“Convicts are forced to sit on bedside tables every day, learn the rules of the internal order. Under the threat of beating and rape, they are forbidden to talk to each other, to get up from this bedside table. And in fact, in parallel, in the colony, there is obviously a suppression of will with the use of torture, since these adult men cannot even talk to each other, ”commented the founder of the project Vladimir Osechkin on the videos.

The videos were filmed from November 1 to November 14, 2021. It is noted that bullying took place in a quarantine detachment for new arrivals.

Earlier, human rights activists published on the Internet a video of torture and rape of prisoners in the hospital of the Saratov Federal Penitentiary Service. According to human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin, 40 gigabytes of video recordings of torture were filmed by employees of the department on service video recorders, and later other videos appeared on the Internet. Criminal cases were initiated, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Duma and the Federation Council took control of the situation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, after the scandal with the publication of a video about torture in Russian colonies, dismissed the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Kalashnikov. Putin also dismissed Anatoly Yakunin from the post of deputy director of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
