An activist of the youth branch of the political movement “Spring” Alexander Kashevarov, who emigrated to the Netherlands, handcuffed himself to the fence of the Russian embassy in The Hague, reproducing the pose of the crucified Christ. He did this to commemorate the anniversary of the return to Russia of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who is now imprisoned.
August 3, 1976 on the wall of the Peter and Paul Fortress appeared the inscription “You crucify freedom, but the human soul knows no shackles.” It was an action by artists Yuli Rybakov and Oleg Volkov in protest against the persecution of dissidents in the USSR. pic.twitter.com/8ruKnmMtBB
