Philosopher Alexander Sekatsky will explain whether there are eternal values

In the St. Petersburg art space mArs (Marsovo Pole, 3) on January 19, a meeting with the contemporary philosopher and writer Alexander Sekatsky “Time and its Truths” will take place. The event will start at 19:00 within the framework of the “Kvartirnik” project.

Guests will be able to discuss with the philosopher the problem of time and universal values. Does the truth change depending on what year it is, and how time affects it? Is it possible to get out of the truth-false dichotomy? What do we really mean when we talk about historical epochs? Is there a universal ethics and eternal values?

These and other questions will be answered by Alexander Sekatsky, a publicist, writer, candidate of philosophical sciences, who defended his dissertation on the topic “Ontology of Lies”. The speaker is an associate professor at the Department of Social Philosophy and Philosophy of History at St Petersburg University and is a member of the Union of Journalists and the Union of Writers of Russia. Sekatsky was also the host of the Night on the Fifth program.

The speaker’s scientific interests include the metaphysics of lies, the problem of historical time, philosophical espionage, the philosophy of seduction and the history of sensibility. Sekatsky is the author of more than 500 publications, was awarded the prize of the St. Petersburg Philosophical Society “Second Navigation” in the nomination “For Philosophical Investment in the Cultural Life of St. Petersburg” due to his active presence in the media: articles, interviews, reviews, critical texts about works of fine art (2002 ).

Alexander Sekatsky was also awarded the St. Petersburg State University Prize for Teaching Excellence (2008), the Andrei Bely Prize (2008) and Nikolai Gogol Prize (2009). In 2012, he received an award from the Novy Mir magazine for the article Israeli Notes. Nominated for “National Bestseller” for the book “Two Caskets: Turquoise and Jade” (2008).
