15 thousand Petersburgers took part in Epiphany bathing. This was reported to a Rosbalt correspondent by the press service of the Committee on Legality, Law and Order and Security.

There are 21 official fonts in the city, where employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and doctors are on duty. Bathing will continue until the evening of January 19.

Photos posted on social media showed dozens of people queuing without social distancing. QR codes are not required from those who want to harden.

While some rejoice at the opportunity to plunge into the hole, others criticized the mass event on social networks. One of the users said that the authorities did not care about the safety of citizens in the face of pandemic records.

“Another hotbed of coronavirus,” the man wrote.

Recall that Epiphany bathing is held on the occasion of one of the main Orthodox holidays of the Epiphany.

Over the past day, an absolute record for the daily incidence of coronavirus was set in the northern capital. Another 4,382 people became infected.

Earlier, a winter swimming expert told how to safely plunge into the hole.
