El Carmen, MANABI
Devotees who attend the Virgen del Cisne chapel, in the Los Tulipanes neighborhood, in El Carmen, were surprised this Monday by the disappearance of the church bell.
The faithful who gather on Mondays to carry out the holy rosary realized that the bell was no longer there.
According to the testimony of a neighbor, the theft of the bell would have been committed early Monday morning, because they heard a small noise from those who make the bells, but they did not imagine that this would happen.
Bella Mera, who is part of the legionnaires of Mary, said that there are many memories in that bell, since she acquired it with a lot of effort. It was Father Eneas Maury who got it.
Mariuxi Loor, another of those who are near the chapel, was very sad about the robbery, since for them the sound of the campaign is like calling the faithful to the party in the house of God. “Every time it rang, in this time of pandemic it was his house of prayer to ask for everyone,” he said.
Now they sincerely ask those who know of the whereabouts of the bell to notify the chapel or the police. “Not even the house of God is safe from crime anymore,” said another woman. (I)
