This Monday night, the Cantonal COE of Manta ordered new measures that it will apply for fifteen days after the increase in cases of COVID-19 in the country and the new traffic lights ordered by the National COE last Sunday.
Among the new regulations are the prohibition of access to the beaches of the canton on Sundays, on the same day alcoholic beverages will not be sold.

Manta is one of the 193 cantons that are at high risk, so classes will be virtual.
The measures announced by the local authority are:
- Accept the traffic light methodology issued by the National COE and the Ministry of Public Health.
- Reduction of the capacity to 30% of tourist premises, commercial premises, sports, urban transportation and other authorized businesses. In addition, spaces for other types of activities such as religious services. The opening hours will be from 05:00 to 23:00.
- Access to the beaches of the Manta coastal profile will be from Monday to Saturday from 05:00 to 17:00. On Sundays access to the beaches will not be allowed.
- Suspend the operating permit for bars and nightclubs.
- Prohibit the realization, in public and private spaces, of events and acts that mean danger of contagion.
- Prohibit the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public spaces every day of the week. Thus, the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays within the canton is also prohibited.

The COE also called on the Ministry of Public Works to complete the repowering of the Rodríguez Zambrano hospital, which should have been ready last December, and a call was also made to the Ministry of Public Health to allocate a larger budget for the provision of antigen tests and Free PCR, faster delivery of results by INSPI, medicines for ICU areas, among others.
In addition, the Armed Forces and the National Police were requested to support control in all sectors of the canton to avoid crowds. (I)
