Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to close at least 111 unauthorized dumps in cities by the end of 2023.
We are talking about the cities included in the federal project “Clean Country” of the national project “Ecology”. It was instructed to ensure the consideration of each project for the elimination of such landfills and the justification of its cost, as well as the timely financing of relevant measures.
It is recommended that the heads of regions personally supervise the work to eliminate these unauthorized dumps and develop the necessary project documentation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects, demanded to name him the main person responsible for the elimination of unauthorized landfills in cities, and the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, pointed to his deputy Murad Kerimov.
Kozlov said that by the end of 2024, it is planned to eliminate 191 landfills within the boundaries of cities in the country, including 111 by the end of 2023. And for 104 landfills, there is no project documentation for liquidation.
Recall that in September, the head of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO, the operator of the “garbage reform”) Denis Butsaev warned that Russia in the coming years may be in a state of garbage collapse.
