The 18-year-old citizen went out to walk his pet at night and did not return, relatives demand that the case be investigated.
Andrés took his dog for a walk as usual at night, in the El Calzado Park, in the south of Quito. On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., he left his house, however, only the pet returned home, an hour and a half later.
According to a police report, Andrés’ father began the search that same night, but without results. The next morning identified a signal at the bottom of the Machángara river ravine, with the help of a neighbor he managed to make his way through the bushes and found his son, lifeless.
“How can someone take the life of an 18-year-old boy for stealing a cell phone and some shoes? I don’t understand and I don’t understand and I don’t know how you can continue in a world like this. I do not understand. The most loving boy in the world”, published his sister on Twitter, with the account @fridayorke, on Wednesday, January 12.
A story that went viral on social media is told in his publications, the family of the deceased citizen maintains that the attempted robbery was the one that ended his life. The label #JusticeForAndres generated a trend among many users who expressed their outrage with the insecurity facing the city.
The preliminary report of the National Directorate for the Investigation of Crimes Against Life, Violent Deaths, Disappearances, Kidnapping and Extortion (Dinased) reported that “the external review of the body presents a fracture in the region of the head at the height of the face”.
“Criminalistics confirmed that he was beaten and thrown into the ravine fell unconscious and drowned, all for stealing his shoes and cell phone. Can I trust, Ecuador Prosecutor’s Office, that they are going to investigate? Can I trust that they will give answers to parents? Can they do justice? ”, Says another publication of the sister of the deceased.
However, a bulletin from the National Police says that “tentatively it is presumed that the citizen would have slipped (vacuum precipitated), by virtue of the fact that it has no injuries or traces of violence”.
In addition, the National Police informed this newspaper that on Saturday, January 15, they carried out a second expert opinion and concluded that it was an accident.
