EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer said there was no progress on the issue of recognition by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V. According to Kommersant, Ederer indicated that work on the approval of the Russian vaccine is ongoing.
According to him, there were two EMA inspections in Russia, after which the agency requested additional documents from the Russian responsible structures, which, according to the European ambassador, have not yet been received.
“This would allow for additional inspections and move the process forward,” he added.
Ederer also noted that Russia has already provided the necessary documents to the World Health Organization (WHO).
“We hope that we will see the necessary documentation in the EMA, I think everyone is interested in as many vaccines as possible available in the world,” Ederer concluded.
Recall that the WHO inspection intends to arrive in Russia in February as part of the procedure for including the Sputnik V vaccine in the list of drugs recommended for emergency use.
According to Ederer, there is no significant progress in the issue of mutual recognition of vaccination certificates by the European Union and Russia.
