In front of several policemen, a young man was shot by gunmen in Durán

Jonathan León, 19, died on the night of Sunday, January 16, in Durán after receiving a second attack in less than 20 minutes. The crime occurred a few meters from the uniformed men who had just arrived at the scene after the victim was shot in the face.

It happened on Spring 1, around 20:40.

According to the uniformed men, when driving along Samuel Cisneros Avenue they saw that the neighbors were gathering and when they approached they noticed a wounded man standing in the middle of the tumult.

It was Jonathan, who had just been shot in the cheek. The bullet went in and out.

One of the policemen said that he took the young man to the sidewalk to sit down while he called for an ambulance on the radio.

What happened immediately after has everyone baffled, as Jonathan was shot again. Two subjects who were in the middle of the tumult drew their weapons and riddled him in front of dozens of people and several uniformed men.

This time he was shot several times in the chest and head.

A neighbor who identified herself as a nurse and who was giving Jonathan first aid had to step aside to avoid being hit by the bullets.

One of the murderers was carrying a rifle, the other a handgun, one of the police officers reported.

The uniformed men reported that the two assassins fled in the midst of the people who began to run to get to safety.

As of Monday morning, no arrests had been reported in this case, however, there is already a suspect who had threatened to kill the deceased today.

Jonathan León records an arrest in 2020 for drug trafficking and the Police presume that his death could be motivated by the sale of drugs in the area. (I)
