The police detained the deputy of the city council of Novosibirsk, Alexander Mukharytsin, after a protest over an increase in housing and communal services tariffs. It is reported by Kommersant-Siberia, citing sources close to the deputy.

The press service of the regional head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation specified that they did not have information about the detention of the deputy.

According to preliminary information, the detention of the deputy is connected with his participation in a protest action against the placement of trade stalls on the site of the alleged square, which took place two months ago.

On January 15, a protest rally against the increase in housing and communal services tariffs was held near the Globus Theater, which was attended by several dozen people, Taiga.info reports. The participants came up with the slogan “No to tariff robbery!” and recalled the increase in public transport fares, the increase in utility bills and the increase in the cost of garbage collection. In addition, at the end of December, the government of the Novosibirsk Region increased by 25% mandatory contributions for the overhaul of apartment buildings.
