Commissioner entered the Guayaquil prison pavilion to verify conditions of coexistence of inmates

The SNAI indicated that the visit to the prison complex in Guayas was given “to learn about the living conditions and define work guidelines.”

Guarded by a group of police officers, Claudia Milena Garzón, commissioner of the Dialogue and Pacification Table, entered pavilions 1 and the consular corps of CPL Guayas No. 1 to talk with inmates in this area and verify the conditions of coexistence.

The commissioner was in that prison with Pablo Efraín Ramírez, director of the National Service for Comprehensive Care for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders of Ecuador (SNAI).

The SNAI indicated that the visit to the prison complex in Guayas was given “to learn about the conditions of habitability and define work guidelines for the centers.”

The visit also included a tour of the facilities of CRS Guayas No. 4, to define parameters of comprehensive care.

Garzón is part of the commission formed by the Executive to try to face the crisis in the social rehabilitation system in Ecuador. The creation of this instance was given by Executive Decree 265.

This commission has six months to present a report in order to generate strategies, programs and plans to strengthen the rehabilitation system.

In addition to Garzón, the commission is made up of Father Luis Barrios, Christian Nieto Salamea, Prudencia Loor Mendoza, Miriam Delgado Chávez, Mónica Ingarévalo Jaramillo, Jorge Narváez Matamoros, Nelsa Curbelo Cora, Ricardo Morales Vela. (I)
