The Ecuadorian Ministry of Education ordered this Sunday the suspension of face-to-face classes in schools of 193 cantons that are at a red light. Localities cataloged with this color are at high risk due to their epidemiological situation due to COVID-19.
The authorities considered some parameters to classify a canton as high, medium or low risk. There were at least six criteria: number and trend of confirmed cases, cumulative incidence rate and trend, availability of beds in intensive care units (ICU), transmission scenario, among others.
