The new anti-Russian sanctions proposed by the US, which also include restrictions on members of the Russian leadership, could lead to a rupture of relations between Washington and Moscow. This was warned by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov in an interview with CNN, fragments of which are cited by RIA Novosti.
According to Peskov, neither Russia nor the United States needs a break in relations. But if new sanctions against Russia are approved, it could potentially end relations between the two countries. And this will be a “big mistake” on the part of the United States, Peskov believes.
He invited Washington to answer the question: can they remember at least some situation when sanctions helped solve their problem.
Recall that earlier US senators from the ruling Democratic Party had previously submitted a bill proposing to impose painful sanctions against key sectors of the Russian economy, public debt and top officials of the state in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine.
