Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov did not guarantee that Moscow would not deploy offensive weapons on the territory of Ukraine. This, according to Bloomberg, Peskov said on Fareed Zakaria GPS, according to a transcript of an interview scheduled for broadcast on Sunday.
Saying “we are not talking about military action” in the sense of issuing an ultimatum, Peskov reiterated Russia’s call on NATO to ensure that the alliance never accepts Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that “we are not going to say that we will not place offensive weapons on the territory of Ukraine.”
Earlier, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the department has information that Russia is allegedly working actively to create a pretext for a potential “invasion”, “advancement” into Ukraine.
US State Department spokesman Ned Price clarified that sanctions would not have to be imposed if Russia chooses a diplomatic path to resolve the situation with Ukraine.
