In Kazakhstan, two relatives of the ex-head of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev have been relieved of their posts.
According to KazTAG, by the decision of the Board of Directors, the Chairman of the Board of KazTransOil JSC Dimash Dosanov and the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazTransGas Kairat Sharipbayev were dismissed.
Dosanov is the husband of Nazarbayev’s youngest daughter, Aliya Nazarbayeva, and Sharipbayev is the husband of the eldest daughter of the first president of Kazakhstan, Dariga Nazarbayeva.
Earlier it was reported about the arrest of former Vice Minister of Energy Zhumabay Karagaev. He is suspected of being involved in an unjustified increase in prices for liquefied petroleum gas in the Mangistau region.
On January 2, protests began in Kazakhstan against a sharp increase in prices for liquefied gas. Later, the rallies turned into pogroms. After the appeal of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the CSTO countries sent peacekeepers to the republic.
The whereabouts of Nazarbayev himself, whom Tokayev replaced as head of the country’s Security Council, is still not known for certain. The republic’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Serzhan Abdykarimov, claims that Nazarbayev is in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, and allegedly held several telephone conversations with the leaders of friendly countries, and is also in constant contact with Kazakh President Tokayev and is monitoring the situation. Nazarbayev’s daughter also claims that the ex-president is monitoring the situation. However, Nazarbayev did not appear in public after the crisis.
