The Russian men’s biathlon team was able to take the “gold” in the relay at the World Cup stage in Ruhpolding, Germany. Karim Khalili, Daniil Serokhvostov, Alexander Loginov and Maxim Tsvetkov ran. They covered the distance in 1 hour 11 minutes 6.1 seconds using four extra rounds.
At the same time, the Norwegians put up a reserve team that did not claim a medal: at the very first stage, the Norwegian athlete Alexander Andersen passed the baton in the last – 24th place. It turned out that one of the opponents had mistakenly shot at the targets of the Norwegian. After the trial, the International Biathlon Union decided to remove two minutes from the time of the Norwegian team.
In second place in the race – Germany, in third – Belarus.
Recall that earlier the Russian team failed at the sixth stage of the World Cup in the men’s sprint race. The best of the Russian biathletes – Maxim Tsvetkov – took only 21st place. Thus, Russia, most likely, has lost the chance to declare the maximum quota for the Olympics and only five athletes will represent the national team in Beijing.
