Seven members of the dangerous hacker group REvil arrested

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow sent under arrest seven members of the REvil hacker group, who were detained in Russia at the request of Washington after being accused of a large-scale cyber attack on American companies.

According to RIA Novosti, the court sent Artem Zayets, Andrei Bessonov, Roman Muromsky, Mikhail Golovochuk, Ruslan Khansvyarov, Dmitry Korotaev and Alexei Malozemov into custody.

All of them are charged with Part 2 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Illegal circulation of means of payment).

Earlier, the FSB reported that the special service neutralized a group of hackers called REvil, involved in cyber attacks on large American companies. Searches and detentions took place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Leningrad and Lipetsk regions. The suspects, according to the FSB, were engaged in the introduction of malicious software, encryption of information and subsequent extortion of money for its decryption.

More than 426 million rubles were confiscated from members of the organized criminal community, including in cryptocurrency, $ 600 thousand, 500 thousand euros, as well as 20 premium cars.
