Eighteen-year-old Artem Volkov from the city of Obninsk (Kaluga region), taken to Clinical Hospital No. 8 after an unsuccessful attempt to do somersaults on the street, died of internal bleeding. The Kaluga 24 news site talks about this, explaining that when trying to perform somersaults, Artem fell with his chest on the metal railing.
Employees of Clinical Hospital No. 8 performed an ultrasound scan on the young man, but found no serious injuries to internal organs and sent Artyom home. At the same time, according to Artyom’s mother, the severe vomiting that her son began in the medical facility was explained by alcohol poisoning. The next day, after returning from the hospital, Artyom temporarily felt better, but soon his condition deteriorated sharply and the young man died without waiting for the doctors to arrive.
The governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, instructed the Ministry of Health, Roszdravnadzor and the newly appointed head of hospital No. 8 to check the tragedy and “make decisions that will fundamentally affect the situation.”
The official conclusion about the cause of Artem’s death has not yet been made public.
