Mexican detained in Quito and related to the Sinaloa cartel awaits extradition to the United States

Brayan Rodríguez was wanted internationally for conspiracy to distribute and import five kilograms or more of cocaine into the United States.

After the president of the National Court of Justice (CNJ), Iván Saquicela, gave way to the extradition from Ecuador to the United States of Brayan RA, the Mexican citizen who is related to the Sinaloa cartel is waiting for the procedure is completed.

He was wanted internationally for crimes such as conspiracy to distribute and import five kilograms or more of cocaine to the United States.

On October 20, a United States District Court for the Southern District of California ordered the arrest of the foreigner for allegedly doing drug deals and with money of dubious origin. After learning that this citizen was located in Ecuador, on the following November 25, the United States sent the request to carry out the necessary procedure for him to be transferred to that country.

Four days later it was confirmed arrest of RA in the avenue of the Shyris, in the north of Quito, a road through which he was traveling aboard a black Ford-150 truck. On December 7, the appearance hearing was held in the National Court before Saquicela and the Mexican said he agreed to be extradited to the United States, but demanded that certain guarantees be ensured while the process in Ecuador was concluded.

Finally, Iván Saquicela, on Tuesday, January 11, resolved that RA be delivered to the United States authorities so that, when he is in that country, he will be present at the trial against him. The approved extradition only contemplates that the Mexican may be prosecuted exclusively for the crimes of drug trafficking and money laundering.

While his departure to the United States is finalized, the precautionary measure of detention against RA was ratified with purposes of extradition imposed against him, so he must remain private of his liberty in the Quito Men’s Deprivation of Liberty Center No. 4, better known as Jail 4, located in the north of Quito.
