SpaceX launched the Ukrainian Sich-2-30 satellite on a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. The launch was made from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The launch vehicle successfully returned to the launch pad.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the successful launch of the device on Telegram. He said that, together with thousands of Ukrainians, he followed the launch via broadcast.
The satellite for remote sensing of the Earth was developed and manufactured by the State Enterprise “Design Bureau” Yuzhnoye “named after. M.K. Yangelya, together with other Ukrainian enterprises. This is a completely Ukrainian technology, Zelensky emphasized, recalling that the successful launch was the first launch of a Ukrainian satellite into space in the last ten years.
It is expected that the Sich-2-30 satellite will help not only to solve civilian problems, but will also make it possible to obtain sufficiently high-quality data on the creation of engineering structures, the movement of military equipment and ships.
By 2025, it is expected to create a group of eight Ukrainian satellites in Earth orbit.
