Two American film companies – CNN Films and HBO Max – will make a documentary about the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny (the founder of the FBK, included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of organizations that act as a foreign agent, and recognized as an extremist organization and liquidated).

According to The Hoollywood Reporter, the movie will be about August 2020, when Navalny was hospitalized in Omsk and then sent to Germany for treatment. When exactly the film will be released is not specified.

It is known that the film will be directed by Canadian documentary filmmaker Daniel Roer, best known for the film “When We Were Brothers” about musician Robbie Robertson. In the US, Navalny will be broadcast on CNN, while HBO Max and CNN+ will receive streaming rights.

Recall that on August 20, 2020, Navalny felt unwell on a flight to Moscow from Tomsk. The plane landed in Omsk, the patient was taken to the city ambulance hospital, which did not find poisonous substances in the body of the politician who had fallen into a coma. Soon Navalny was transferred to Berlin for treatment, after which the Bundeswehr laboratory found traces of Novichok military toxin banned by the chemical weapons convention in his blood. Companions of the oppositionist said that FSB officers were allegedly involved in the assassination attempt on him. The state denies any involvement in the incident.

Now Navalny is in a colony, where he is serving a term in the “Yves Rocher case”, and most of his associates have already left Russia. Navalny has received several international awards in recent months.
