A petition appeared on the Change.org website against the judges’ quarter on the site of the Tuchkov Buyan park.
“We are in favor of preserving the concept of the park, albeit in an underground parking lot. The city is sorely lacking quality public spaces, especially in the city center. The creation of a park on Dobrolyubov Avenue with the improvement of the embankment will be able to attract an additional flow of tourists and will unite Sakharov Square, Zayachiy Island and V.O.
Earlier, the media and St. Petersburg deputy Boris Vishnevsky reported that the park project was curtailed in favor of the court quarter, where the Supreme Court could move.
The new public space, as it was originally announced, may appear along the Malaya Neva embankment, between Tuchkovy Bridge, Dobrolyubov Avenue and Birzhevy Bridge.
The press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that in the center of St. Petersburg both the court quarter and the Tuchkov Buyan park will be built.
