Firefighters from several Manabi cantons attend to forest fire in San Vicente

The event was recorded on Wednesday night.

National authorities and the Manabí province announced that firefighters from at least five cantons were carrying out work to control a forest fire in San Vicente, near the Punta Napo sector.

In images shared on social networks, a line of fire was observed on the horizon that consumed several hectares. Governor Juan Francisco Núñez indicated around 10:30 p.m. that 85% of the accident was already under control.

In addition, more than 50 firefighters from Sucre, San Vicente and Chone were at the site.

“Technicians from the Ministry of Environment and Risk Management are going to the area to assess what happened and take immediate action. Through ECU911 support has been requested from the Fire Brigade of neighboring cantons and the Armed Forces,” he said.

The National Risk Management Service, for its part, indicated that in addition to the aforementioned fire brigades, those of Portoviejo and Manta also participated in extinguishing the fire. (I)
