The share of the omicron-strain of covid on the territory of the Russian Federation is already quite large, said Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group for the development of new diagnostic methods based on sequencing technologies at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, on the air of Russia 24. He warned that against this background, in the near future, most likely, there will be an increase in covid morbidity.
“We will see a slight increase in the incidence in the country,” Khafizov noted and stressed that the cases of “omicron” in Russia are no longer only imported.
We will remind, earlier today the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that in Russia, 305 cases of infection with the omicron strain of covid in 13 regions have already been identified. In a pessimistic scenario due to the omicron, the daily increase in the incidence of covid in the Russian Federation may reach six-digit numbers (so far – tens of thousands).
As Popova clarified, the incubation period of “omicron” is shorter than that of other strains, and an infected person can “spread” the infection in a day or two, while the symptoms of the disease will appear on the third or fifth day. Popova urged that in case of any deterioration in health, immediately go to the doctor and stay at home, and employers – not to let employees with cold symptoms to work.
