The head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced a reduction in the VAT rate on a significant part of foodstuffs from the current five percent to zero, as well as a reduction in the VAT rate of 23 to 8%. In addition, the government cut the VAT rate on natural gas from 23% to 8%, canceled the excise tax on electricity and lowered the VAT rate on electricity from 23% to 5%, as well as the VAT rate on heating from 23% to the same 8%. “.

Mateusz Mazowiecki urged businesses to demonstrate their responsibility to society and reduce food prices by 5 zlotys (more than 1 euro), adding that this is “not the earnings of entrepreneurs, but a part of what goes into the budget of the Polish state”, which has already “zeroed” the most low VAT rate among EU countries. In addition, he called on citizens to check whether business is ready to follow this intention, not only in words, but also in deeds.
