The manager of Epmaps indicated that they will hire external companies to equalize in the attention of the damages.
They do not have an exact figure for the existing drinking water leaks in the Metropolitan District of Quito (DMQ). What they do know is that receive approximately 400 complaints for these types of incidents every week. This was confirmed Othon Zevallos, Manager of the Metropolitan Public Water and Sanitation Company (Epmaps-Agua de Quito).
These complaints, according to Epmaps, they exceed 26,000 annually. “It is serious because you have to allocate resources and great efforts. People complain, and with good reason, that leaks are there for weeks and not being taken care of. Water is wasted, and it is true, I apologize to the people for this situation that we are going to solve ”, Zevallos emphasized.
According to the manager, in the coming weeks he hopes to have contracts to address the leaks and gradually reduce the amount of dammed damage.
The municipal company it does not have enough personnel and machinery to deal with all the number of leaks; currently manage to fix a just over 200 per week. Therefore, they will go to the hiring external companies that they complete the necessary contingent to attend the damages in the pipes.
With this, Zevallos offered that until the end of March they will have equaled and they will attend to leaks within a maximum period of 24 hours.
Connections
According to Agua de Quito, there are also more than 4,000 requests for potable water connections dammed by the previous administration. It will also be solved with the hiring of external companies.

Drinking water for the Los Chillos valley
The parishes located in the southeast of the capital face supply problems and leaks, For this reason, the municipal company offered a series of minor works that seek to solve these problems in the area of the Los Chillos valley.
There are six parishes: KNOWLEDGE, Amaguaña, Píntag, Guangopolo, Alangasí and La Merced.
Among the works is the rehabilitation of three pumping stations: San Juan, Medrano and Paredes. This, added to the improvement of conduction towards the KNOWLEDGE plants, will allow increase flow at 90 liters per second.
