After the withdrawal of the CSTO peacekeepers from Kazakhstan, there is a high probability that the president of this country, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, will return to the policy of “multi-vector”. This opinion was expressed by the former Minister of Defense of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Igor Strelkov (Girkin).
“On the one hand, the RF may very soon need mobile reserves on other fronts. On the other hand, after their withdrawal, it is almost inevitable (I put 10 to 1) that Tokayev’s regime will return to “multi-vector” with all the ensuing consequences, ”he wrote on his VK page.
In his opinion, the withdrawal of troops can be started “with the return home of the Armenian and Kyrgyz contingents (in total, a little more than 200 people).”
Earlier, Girkin noted that the situation in Kazakhstan “is still far from stabilization” and will remain so for a long time. He argued that the CSTO forces introduced were too small, calling the protests “a long-ripened popular revolt that grew into an armed revolt”, not excluding the possibility that they could be “artificially aggravated and provoked.”
Today, Kazakh President Tokayev said that the forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will soon be withdrawn from the country.
