In the first 11 days of the year, 33 murders have been reported in zone 8, made up of Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón.
In the Cerro de San Eduardo sector, a man was killed with 26 shots. It happened on the afternoon of Monday, January 10. The victim is Bryan Asunción Cagua, he was 23 years old, and he was shot on the second floor of a rental house, in the apartment he rented with his wife.
Colonel Francisco Zumárraga, subcommander of zone 8, mentioned that two burgundy cars have arrived at the place and that the neighbors saw several armed men enter the house and minutes later the shots were heard.
Relatives of the victim said that the killers wore reflective sweaters similar to those worn by police officers. They said the hit men pretended to be members of the institution and pretended to be carrying out an operation.
In fact, the wife of the deceased today was stopped at the door of the building when she came home from shopping and they took her cell phone and money that she carried in her pocket.
Then they entered the department with Asunción Cagua, supposedly to question him.

But it was not the only case registered on Monday in the south of the city. In the Santa Mónica citadel, another man was executed by hitmen around 11:00 p.m.

On the morning of this Tuesday, January 11, another violent event was reported in the south of the city.
A motorcyclist was shot and wounded in Guasmo. It happened at 10:00 at the Guayas y Quil 2 cooperative.
