This disease seriously limits mobility, and although anti-inflammatory drugs bring instant relief, they are not able to reduce the frequency and intensity of pain, says Elaine Husney, director of the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal System Center at the Cleveland Clinic, rheumatologist.

“But there is something you can try that will benefit your joints: a dietary change that will eliminate foods associated with inflammation throughout the body,” Dr.Peter quotes the expert.

However, she admits that large-scale studies on this topic have not yet been carried out, but she can observe the connection between diet and arthritis in her own practice. “Certain types of foods can cause chronic inflammation in the body, and the immune response, which is constantly activated, can damage healthy cells and organs,” says Husni. “This does not mean that you need to look for a specific set of foods for arthritis, you need to reconsider your diet.”

Food, according to the rheumatologist, should be varied and balanced. The advantage is with herbal products. However, you should discard anything that can be stored for several weeks – these products usually contain many preservatives that cause inflammation. Among these “pests” are chips, cookies, baked goods, fast food.

“The amount of fast food should be significantly limited, it is better to eat something fresh and raw than cooked fried,” the expert warns. “It is worth reducing, or better, eliminating concentrated sweets altogether.”

The doctor advises to consume natural herbal products, as they do not cause inflammation in the body.

Sodas and sodas are another product to cut out for anyone already suffering from arthritis and anyone looking to avoid arthritis, Husni said. They can cause weight gain, increase your risk of type 2 diabetes, and trigger rheumatoid arthritis.
