Gas supplies to Ukraine from the EU collapsed more than six times in 2021

Imports of natural gas to Ukraine from the European Union decreased last year by 6.2 times (by 13.34 billion cubic meters) to the level of 2020 to 2.56 billion cubic meters.

At the same time, the main volume of deliveries in the past year was from Hungary, Slovakia and Poland, Interfax reports with reference to the data of the Ukrainian GTS Operator (OGTSU).

At the same time, the head of OGTSU, Sergei Makogon, indicated that Kiev sees serious risks of a further reduction in the transit of Russian gas through the country, therefore, it considers it necessary to strengthen the reliability and flexibility of the gas supply system in Ukraine.

In turn, “Ukrtransgaz” announced a reduction in the occupancy of gas storage facilities in Ukraine to 42.1%, TASS notes.

Meanwhile, the Russian Gazprom Export in 2022 still does not plan to resume gas sales to Europe on its electronic trading platform (ETP) and again did not schedule trading sessions from 10 to 14 January – the last trading sessions on Gazprom’s ETP were held more than two months ago.
