Swedish Defense Minister calls Russia a threat to European security

The entire security system in Europe is threatened by Russia’s actions. Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultkvist said this at the nationwide conference “People and Defense”, which is being held online.

“The entire European security system is susceptible to doubt and threat because of Russia’s actions,” the minister was quoted as saying by TASS.

At the same time, he is convinced that Sweden needs to cooperate with NATO, and that the EU is for her the most important platform for decisions in the field of security policy.

Recall that Russia and the United States will hold consultations in Geneva on January 9-10 on Moscow’s proposals on security guarantees, followed by a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels, and consultations at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the unacceptable conditions of the United States for the resumption of the work of the Russia-NATO Council, RBC notes.

“They want to restore the activities of the Russia-NATO Council, but on their own terms, on the agenda that suits them, with an emphasis on the so-called de-escalation, the so-called Russian aggression in Ukraine,” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti “Before the meeting with the American delegation in Geneva.
