Social networks bring not only good, but also evil, which must be “stopped”. This, as reported by RIA Novosti, said the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about the role of the Internet in the events in Kazakhstan.
“And the task is to take measures to stop this evil,” he stressed, adding that this is “a long history”.
“It just found its obvious confirmation once again in the course of recent events in Kazakhstan,” Peskov said.
At the same time, he assured that any proposals for regulating social networks in Russia, taking into account the Kazakhstani experience, are not being considered by the presidential administration today.
Let us remind you that after the New Year, protests began in Kazakhstan. The protesters demanded a reduction in the price of liquefied gas. Later, the actions of discontent escalated into riots and clashes with law enforcement officers, there are dead and wounded. Against this background, the government of Kazakhstan resigned, and a state of emergency was declared throughout the country.
In turn, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, requested assistance from the CSTO. According to official data, more than 5.1 thousand people were detained.
The Kremlin said that the events in the neighboring country came as a surprise to all members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). At the same time, Dmitry Peskov pointed out, the Kremlin believes that it is Nur-Sultan’s case, not Moscow’s, to name the specific forces behind the events in Kazakhstan, as well as to investigate the causes and circumstances of what happened.
