24 ex-National Security Service officials and senior military officials are calling on President Joe Biden to send Kiev Stinger portable surface-to-air missiles, Javelin missiles and radars to track artillery fire. They insist on the need to “influence the Kremlin’s calculations” together with NATO allies in order to prevent a hypothetical Russian aggression against Ukraine.
This is reported by NBC News, without naming the names and titles of current and retired officials who report on the discussion of the supply of Stinger MANPADS to Ukraine.
The topic was indeed discussed with the participation of Washington, a senior State Department official told reporters, without giving further details. “I don’t have a concrete answer to this question,” she added, admitting that America is ready to expand the volume of military assistance to Kiev in the event of the “Russian aggression” discussed for the third month in a row.
Since November last year, the focus of the world’s media has been on Russia’s alleged preparation for the winter invasion of Ukraine. As evidence, satellite photographs of Russian military equipment, which allegedly are concentrated in the regions bordering with Ukraine, are cited. At the same time, the Russian Federation repeatedly denies such accusations, the US threatens “unprecedented in history” with tough sanctions in the event of an invasion, representatives of NATO and the EU countries call on the Russian Federation to de-escalate tensions on the border, and Kiev cannot decide on the date of the proposed “invasion”.
