According to a resolution of the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE), due to the high demand for RT-PCR tests registered in the United States, the congestion that has been maintained in the laboratories for testing and because some passengers have been unable to find laboratories where they can perform the test with 72 hours in advance losing flights and canceling last-minute trips, the request of the Ministries of Transport and Public Works and Health was accepted, so that the passengers resident in Ecuador who need to return to the country, board their flights on the airlines that fulfill the route to Ecuador from the United States, complying with the following guidelines:
–Presentation of vaccination card with a complete scheme with the application of the second dose at least 14 days before the trip.
–Upon arrival in the city of Quito or Guayaquil, the RT-PCR test at the cost of the traveler.
–Carry out mandatory isolation preventive for 14 days. Telephone monitoring will be done during isolation and the person must report the result of the PCR test.
The measure will go until 11:59 p.m. on January 16.
The national COE has asked the decentralized autonomous governments that have airport terminals to request the presentation of the vaccination document against COVID-19 to enter those places and that the traveler is accompanied by a single person.
