The situation in Kazakhstan “is still far from stabilizing” and will remain so for a long time, said Igor Girkin (Strelkov), a former militia commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
On his VKontakte page, Strelkov called the protests in Kazastan “a long-ripened popular revolt that grew into an armed revolt,” while noting that the unrest could have been “artificially aggravated and provoked.” In his opinion, the results of what happened “will be stretched over many years.”
In addition, he stressed that “it is too early to put an end to it even in this particular situation.” According to the ex-militia, the CSTO forces deployed “are too small to conduct a large-scale military-police operation even in Alma-Ata alone, not to mention the entire south of Kazakhstan.” If the troops of Kazakhstan itself are not reliable enough, new “surprises” can be expected now and further, Strelkov added.
Let us remind you that protests in Kazakhstan began after the New Year due to the rise in prices for liquefied gas. The government resigned, while the CSTO Collective Security Council decided to send a collective peacekeeping force to Kazakhstan at the request of the president of the republic.
Law enforcement officials of Kazakhstan have detained 3,811 people in connection with the riots, the Kazakh Tengrinews agency reported on the Telegram channel data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the ministry, 26 participants in the riots were eliminated, another 26 people were injured.
