An 11-year-old minor was killed during a rifle attack on 33 y Capitán Nájera; another child and a woman were injured

According to the ballistic evidence identified by the Police, the attackers used a 2.23 caliber long weapon and a 9 mm long weapon.

The dozen orifices formed in the wall of a house, as a result of the bullets, account for the level of violence of the attack perpetrated early this Friday at 33rd and Capitán Nájera streets, in the southwest of Guayaquil, during which a 11-year-old boy was killed.

Meanwhile, another minor and a woman were injured and remain hospitalized in a health home, with a reserved prognosis.

Major Miguel Naranjo, chief of operations for the Portete district, said that the perpetrators approached the scene aboard two vehicles and attacked those who were eating.

The uniformed officer pointed out that, according to the ballistic evidence identified, the attackers used a long weapon (rifle type) of caliber 2.23 and another of 9 millimeters.

“(The) of 2.23 is a long weapon that they used against the humanity of the people who were there in the place,” the police chief told Ecuavisa.

The minor who died, Naranjo added, was the uncle of the boy who was injured. Meanwhile, the woman is the mother of one of the two.

The murdered child was shot at the chest and in one of the legs. The other minor, who is hospitalized, registers a head injury.

During the last quarter of the previous year, until mid-December, in provinces such as Guayas and Manabí, at least five minors were collateral victims of violent attacks registered in those jurisdictions. (I)
