Luis Moreira was a well-known young man from the San Alejo citadel, a town located west of Portoviejo. Last Wednesday night, when Moreira was talking with some friends near his home, he was besieged by two people who were mobilizing on a motorcycle. One of them shot him five times, according to an eyewitness.
“Some individuals came on a red motorcycle, one with a black sweater and another with a blue sweater, five shots hit the body,” said a person who was in the

The family and friends of the man injured by the shooting searched for a vehicle to take him urgently to a hospital. No one was able to immediately offer transportation by car, so friends took him away injured on a motorcycle.
This is how Moreira arrived at the Verdi Cevallos Balda hospital in Portoviejo, where the doctors only determined that the injuries caused by the shots received were fatal.
Outside the hospital, family and friends condemned the attack, the sixth violent death in the first days of 2022, and the first crime recorded this year in Portoviejo.
